CTC Cycle Champions

Sefton

Juliette Jardine is the CTC Cycling Development Officer working in partnership with the Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council.

Juliette’s programme of social rides, cycle training and cycle maintenance classes are aimed at groups with physical health problems and learning difficulties.

A well known cycling champion in the Sefton area; Juliette is working with young people, especially teenage girls who are seen as a risk group due to current inactivity.

Juliette is passionate about cycling for health and the provision of cycling for all regardless of ability or disability.
The Sefton project utilises the fantastic Litherland Sports Park facility. The park is having a substantial impact on the community of South Sefton providing access to cycling.

It is enabling training, racing, coaching and disabled use in a range of cycling disciplines and is being used as a base for the Wheels for All Centre (adapted cycles for people with special needs and disabilities).

In her partnership with Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council Juliette is liaising with a number of community groups in each of the four years of the project.

Following the theme of tackling inactivity amongst youth groups, she will assist in the delivery and expansion of current projects to 4 secondary schools and their feeder schools. Go on to develop competitive cycling as part of the school curriculum within those schools, and hopes to develop a community cycle club in partnership with the local Primary Care Trust.
