CTC Cycle Champions

Wolverhampton

Becky Marston is the CTC Cycling Development Officer working in partnership with Wolverhampton City Council.

With the aim of increasing cycle usage amongst the communities of Wolverhampton, specifically those which have historically been hard to reach Becky will call off local and nationally available resources provided by CTC;

  • Access to bikes
  • using existing networks to get access to inactive individuals at a local level
  • bringing in other community groups, clubs, champions, trainers to help
  • A central hub of resources, information and education
  • overcoming barriers – especially perception of danger
  • providing supportive networks
  • acting as a personalised marketing opportunity

Training and support will be offered to those seeking an improvement in their health and well being, young people with learning and physical disabilities and members of the black minority ethnic communities of Wolverhampton. Rides and group activities for all will be supported through work with other partner organisations.

Becky will identify lead “champions” who will receive additional training in project sustainability and will carry on the programmes after a year’s input.
